Leader In Me

We are so proud that Longacre Elementary has been awarded the distinction and honor of being named a LEADER IN ME LIGHTHOUSE SCHOOL.  We are the fifth school in the State of Michigan that has met the rigorous academic and depth of implementation criteria involved in receiving this honor.

Using Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People as a foundation, your children are taught and regularly practice leadership and life skills that will prepare them for their futures as leaders in the 21stcentury. For example, every student in our school has a personal data notebook that includes goal setting (Habit #2: Begin with the end in Mind) and personal action plans (Habit #3: Put first things first).

The children know they are leaders of themselves, are invested in their own success, and are empowered to proactively chart their course. Leadership surrounds every member of our school community and is embodied within our school Mission Statement: Everyone learning, everyone leading. Our school a place for students to learn and to lead, but is also a place where the adults, parents and staff, are involved as learners and leaders. Learn more by attending activities planned by our Parent Lighthouse Team.
